Schlösser & Gutshäuser
Situated along the Mecklenburger Lakes are many castles and mansions in the various towns and villages. Traditionally many mansions are also referred to as “castles”.
Most of these historical buildings have their own mysterious legends. Avenues lined up with oak trees, chestnut trees or lime trees lead to the stately homes surrounded with magnificent gardens and parks. Different building styles can be admired, like castles being erected with boulders or with boulders and in Gothic style, some include Renaissance, English farmhouse style, Classicism or neo-Gothic-Romantic.
Many castles and mansions have been adapted to tourism and are used for historical pageants or different music festivals, like Castle Ulrichshusen or mansion Woldzegarten. Some serve as museums like castle Hohenzieritz with the Queen Louise memorial place, some have found a new meaning as hotel or holiday resorts.
Residing in a Mansion will result in an unforgettable experience.
The most northern high altitude castle in Burg Stargard is most fascinating, while the witches’ dungeons in the old Burg Penzlin will guarantee shudders of creepiness.
Included with the castle buildings one has to mention the architectural reconstructed Slav settlements or castles in Groß Raden, Passentin or Neustrelitz. Children will experience thrilling adventures here.
